Flexible, effective parenting supports for families in Johnston County
Partnership for Children of Johnston County (PFCJC) is now providing Triple P to families in Johnston County, proven to work in over 150 studies around the world. With practitioners trained in seminar, individual, and discussion group levels, the program is completely flexible to each participant in scheduling and in topics.
Triple P is special because it is not a “one-size-fits-all” course. It offers different levels of support to meet families’ needs based on their availability and urgency. PFCJC staff are trained in individual one-on-one sessions, group discussion sessions, and seminar sessions. One-on-one is completed in four sessions, where families focus specifically on one child behavior they want to learn to manage. Group discussion is an interactive one-time session, with four available topics to cover, and can have up to 20 participants. Lastly, seminar is a one-time training with three available topics that is typically scheduled in advance. All three support options are available throughout the year and are announced regularly through social media.
Triple P is designed to give parents and caregivers the skills they need to raise confident, healthy children and to build stronger family relationships. Triple P doesn’t tell people how to parent, it provides families simple and practical strategies they can change to match their own values, beliefs and needs. Topics can range from learning how to potty train, to managing misbehavior, and dealing with aggression in children. Triple P is based upon key strategies that can be used in managing different parenting situations. Families are paired with a Family Support Specialist to ensure the strategies are working correctly.
