Passenger Arrested, Driver Sought Following Two County Chase

CLAYTON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a motorist who eluded authorities during a two county chase. The pursuit occurred December 20th. A deputy traveling on NC Highway 42 West of Clayton attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding. The driver refused to pull over and accelerated to speeds between 80 and 100 mph.

The chase eventually entered Wake County where the driver turned onto Morar Street, off White Oak Road, south of Garner. The male driver and female passenger reportedly jumped and ran. The passenger was detained. The male driver eluded arrest, including efforts by a Wake County K-9 unit that attempted to track the suspect.

Authorities said the passenger, Loretta Strange, age 23, of Cornwallis Road, Garner was reportedly found to have suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia in her possession.

Strange was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and later possession of a controlled substance in jail. Bail was set at $15,000.

Johnston County deputies obtained a warrant for the driver, whose identity has not released pending their arrest. Their vehicle was seized under the NC Run and Done State Law.

No injuries were reported.
