Police Cite Pet Owner After Dog Bites Teen

A pet owner has been cited with a leash law violation after her dog allegedly bit a neighbor unloading groceries from a car. The incident was reported at 4:27pm Monday on S. Sussex Drive.

A 19 year-old Princeton man was unloading groceries when the dog bit him on the hand. The teen was transported by ambulance to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment.

The reported owner of the dog, Wendy Chavez, 25, of S. Sussex Drive, was cited by Smithfield Police with violating the town’s leash law ordinance. The dog was quarantined. Police did not disclose the breed of the animal.
