Police: Driver Was Under The Influence Of Narcotics And Alcohol

A motorist was arrested for allegedly driving while impaired during an early morning traffic stop in Smithfield.

Around 3:44am Wednesday, a Smithfield police officer stopped a 2007 Acura on North Brightleaf Boulevard near North Street for suspicion of impaired driving.

The operator of the Acura, Ashley Corielle Hunt, 26, of Raleigh was arrested and a blood sample was taken.  Police Captain R. Sheppard said police believe Hunt was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol, possibly MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy.

Hunt was given a $15,000 bond on charges of driving while impaired, felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Hunt’s car was also impounded by police.
