Police: Fatal Hit And Run Being Treated As Possible Homicide

Clayton Police are treating a deadly hit and run crash Sunday morning as a possible homicide.

Around 6;30am, officers responded to US Highway 70 Business West near Yates Drive after a body was spotted on the westbound side of the road.

Clayton Fire and Johnston County EMS responded and determined the victim was deceased.

Police are working to identify the victim, described as an Hispanic male wearing a green “Hollister” brand pullover type t-shirt and blue jeans. He is approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

Westbound Highway 70 was shut down for several hours as an extensive crime scene examination was conducted.

After examining the body and crime scene evidence, police determined this was a hit and run and possible homicide.

Clayton Police are searching for a red 1999-2007 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra two door or extended cab model pickup. The truck may have damage to the front end or side area of the vehicle.
