Wilson’s Mills Police seized a vehicle following a brief weekend high speed chase. At 11:34pm Saturday, an officer was on patrol and observed a dark colored SUV drive through a red light in the westbound lane of Highway 70 at the intersection of Wilson’s Mills Road.
Police Chief A.Z. Williams said the officer attempted to pull over the SUV but it quickly accelerated to just over 90mph, ignoring the police blue light and siren. After two miles, the vehicle slowed down and stopped on Strickland Road just off Highway 70.
The driver, Tyrell Eugene Brantley, 30, of Raleigh, the only occupant in the SUV, was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, driving while impaired and driving on a revoked license.
Wilson’s Mills Police seized the SUV under the ‘Run and You’re Done’ state law.
