Smithfield Police and the Johnston County Department of Social Services are investigating an incident on the campus of Smithfield Middle School on Buffalo Road.
On March 25th around 2:50pm, police said a parent was called to the middle school for a school-related matter involving their child.
As the parent was in the parking lot area leaving the campus with their child, a school resource officer reportedly witnessed the parent administer physical punishment the officer felt was excessive.
Captain R. Sheppard said the Department of Social Services has been brought in to assist with the investigation. At last report, no criminal charges have been filed.
If parents did more like this parent did then maybe we would not dealing with so much of the crap we are dealing with today!
