Police Investigating Thefts From Unlocked Vehicles

Smithfield Police are investigating the theft of items from two unlocked vehicles. The incidents were discovered Monday morning.

A vehicle parked in the 500 block of S. 5th Street had been entered and a ball bag and cell phone stolen.

A short time later, a second vehicle owner reported their car, which was parked on W. Riverside Drive, had been entered and a key ring with several keys had been stolen.

Police were then called to E. Lee Street after another vehicle owner discovered their car had been entered but no property was reported missing. All three vehicles had been left unlocked. Police encourage drivers to keep their cars locked at all times, even when parked outside your home.

Anyone with information that could help investigators may call the Smithfield Police Tip Line at 919-989-8835.

  1. Good luck on finding who did it. My sister’s car was broke into at flounders. The person walked straight to speedway and used her card. She told PD the amount, time and store. Never heard back from PD.
