Police K-9 Helps Apprehend Suspect In Two County Chase

A two county chase with a stolen vehicle Wednesday night ended with the suspect briefly hospitalized after being bitten by a police K-9.

It began around 9:00pm in Goldsboro. Police said officers took a report of a stolen 2017 Ford Escape. About 10 minutes later, another officer spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull it over. Instead, the driver sped away on Highway 117 North of Goldsboro, through Pikeville and Fremont, before eventually leaving Wayne County and entering Wilson County. The pursuit continued into Wilson on Highway 301 North. The pursuit ended on Howard Jones Court in Wilson.

The driver, identified as Dameon Charles Greene, 18, of Goldsboro, was transported to Wilson Medical Center for treatment of two bites from a Goldsboro Police K-9.

After his release from the hospital, Greene was transported to the Wayne County magistrate’s office where he was formally charged. Greene was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $225,000 bond.   The stolen vehicle was returned it its owner.
