Police: Man Threatened Walmart Employees With Stick

SMITHFIELD – Police arrested a man inside Walmart after responding to a disturbance. Around 9:20pm Wednesday, police responded to a report a man was threatening Walmart loss prevention personnel with a wooden stick.

Prior to their arrive, police said Jason Jonathan Jordan, of W. Noble Street, Selma, was inside the store and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Loss prevention suspected Jordan was attempting to steal merchandise and confronted him.

During the confrontation, Jordan allegedly grabbed a wooden stick and began swinging it at employees. Police arrived and found Jordan still armed with the stick. He reportedly took up a defensive posture towards responding officers, however, they disarmed the 33 year-old man without injury or further incident.

Jordan was charged with disorderly conduct – violent conduct, a misdemeanor. He was given a $1,000 bond pending a November 23, 2021 appearance in Johnston County District Court.
