Seven Smithfield businesses were the victims of shoplifting Saturday night by two individuals. Police said two Wilson women targeted the stores on Outlet Center Drive taking $3,201.71 in merchandise, which was later recovered and returned to the businesses.
Smithfield Police said they responded to a reported shoplifting at 8:15pm at one of the stores. Responding officers spotted the suspects in a 2017 Kia and pulled them over as they were leaving.
During an investigation, officers said they found items stolen from the Adidas Outlet, The Children’s Place, Levis Outlet, GAP Outlet, American Eagle Outfitters, Nike Factory Store, and Aeropostale.
Kenosha Monique Wellington, 32, and Csydney Lakosha Murray, 29, were arrested. Wellington was charged with 7 felony counts of habitual larceny, 7 counts of misdemeanor larceny, and 7 counts of aiding and abetting larceny. She was held under a $135,000 bond.
Murray was charged with 7 counts of misdemeanor larceny, 7 counts of aiding and abetting larceny, and driving on a revoked license. She was cited and released. (A mugshot of Murray was not available.)
