SMITHFIELD – Two men were arrested after they were reportedly caught inside an abandoned building. Around 8:00am Tuesday, October 12th, Smithfield Police were dispatched to the former K-Mart Building on W. Market Street for a report of a possible break-in.
Police arrived and reportedly found two suspects in the building. They also found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and Suboxone.
Christopher Scott Gower, 47, of Wilson’s Mills Road, Smithfield was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering and felony possession of a controlled substance. He was given a $10,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
Jonathan Blake Powell, 31, of White Oak Drive, Smithfield was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was held on a $2,000 secured bond.
