A woman who was reportedly found unconscious in a convenience store restroom was arrested after she declined medical treatment, got into her car and drove away.
At 9:30am Saturday, first responders were dispatched to Myer’s Community Mart on Highway 70 East of Smithfield after a 32 year-old woman was allegedly found unconscious in the restroom. Holly Ann Woolard of Charlotte refused transport to the hospital by ambulance. Woolard, who allegedly appeared to be under the influence of an impairing substance, admitted to using heroin.
Woolard managed to slip out of sight of the first responders for a few seconds, get into her car and drive away. A deputy sheriff located Woolard’s car moments later and pulled her over. Woolard was arrested for driving while impaired, possession of heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample. Authorities said they suspect her impairment was from heroin and not alcohol.
Woolard was given a $20,000 bond on the charges.
