A pregnant woman was arrested outside a Johnston County public school building Wednesday morning. A Johnston County deputy sheriff was on patrol when he spotted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of Selma Middle School on US 301.
The officer said he located 41 year-old Gillian Jill Cunningham of Wilson inside the car. Authorities said they found suspected methamphetamines, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia inside the car.
Cunningham was wanted for failing to appear in court recently on a felony charge of obtaining property by false pretenses.
Deputies also charged her with felony possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver meth, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Cunningham was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $35,000 bond.
The arrest was made before the start of school Wednesday morning and the scene was cleared before staff and students arrived.
Officials don’t know what prompted Cunningham to stop in the school parking lot.
