Raleigh Man Charged With Johnston County Break-In

WILLOW SPRING – A 51 year-old Raleigh man was arrested Friday night, one day after he allegedly broke into a Willow Spring home stealing a gun holster.

Jason Gerrard Smith, 51, of Smoky Topaz Lane is accused of breaking into a residence eon Rosa Circle on Sept. 10th stealing the holster.  As Smith was allegedly leaving the address, one of the homeowners was arriving.  Smith and the homeowner briefly struggled before the suspect fled.

Johnston County deputies said Smith had previously resided at the home but at the time of the break-in was no longer living at the address.

Smith was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny. He was confined in the Johnston County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond.
