Detectives with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s help identifying a man in connection with a credit card fraud case.
On May 25th, a customer was shopping at the Dollar General, located at 12347 NC Highway 210 Benson, near McGee’s Crossroads. The victim accidentally left her cell phone on a shelf when she picked up an item to purchase. The cell phone case also contained her credit cards and identification card.
The victim went back to retrieve her phone and financial cards but realized they were gone. The phone was later found discarded at the back of the store but the credit cards and identification card were missing.
Surveillance video at Dollar General reportedly showed a black male shopper wearing an Amazon uniform pick up the phone and steal the credit cards before discarding the phone in the store. The suspect left driving a black four door passenger car.
Someone tried to use the stolen credit card a short time later at another location.
Sheriff’s detectives believe the suspect is an Amazon delivery driver and may be from the local area.
