PRINCETON – Two men were caught at the scene of a residential break-in. Around 2:30pm Friday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a neighbor reporting a home in the 6000 block of Hickory Crossroads Road was being broken into by two people who had parked their van behind the home. The homeowner was away from their residence at the time of the break-in.
Deputies arrived and located the two suspects still on the scene and signs of forced entry into the home. $50 in stolen items was recovered.
Steven Daniel Smith, 34, of Simmons Road, Kenly and Tony Ray Turnage, 54, of Highway 581, Kenly were charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny. Both suspects were jailed on a $40,000 secured bond. Officers also impounded the van they were operating.
