Report: Marijuana Found In Car, Suspect’s Shoes

Two men were arrested during a traffic stop on Highway 96 South in the Meadow community. On Dec. 19th at 10:54pm, a Johnston County deputy sheriff stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

During the traffic stop, suspected marijuana was reportedly found in the driver’s shoes and additional marijuana were located in the vehicle.  An open container of alcohol and digital scales were also found.

The driver, Zhyshawn Imani Abernathy, 21, of Deep Canyon Drive, Clayton and a passenger Jay Damon Tovarramirez, 19, of Lee Johnson Road, Dunn were arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.  Both suspects were placed in the Johnston County Jail on secured $15,000 bonds.
