KENLY – Johnston County deputies converged on the campus of Glendale Elementary School on Bay Valley Road near Kenly for a burglar alarm activation around 2:07am Sunday, Nov. 10.
While checking the interior of the school building, deputies said they located a man in the hallway, later identified as 18 year-old Michael Dennis Rackham of Raleigh.
Rackham was reportedly cooperative with officers telling them he needed somewhere to charge his cell phone. He claimed the door to the school was unlocked.
Rackham was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering, and misdemeanor larceny. The larceny charge was for the theft of electricity from the school to charge his phone.
He was given a $2,500 bond.
There were no signs of forced entry or damage to the school.
Theft of electricity? My God.
All this just to charge up a phone. Wow!
Seems legit
Why was the school left unlocked? And who is responsible? # TheRealQuestions
What a stupid excuse for breaking into the school. Go to any fast food place you could use their outlet lol…..hope charging that phone was worth the charges..
