Restaurant Employee Goes On Spending Spree With Customer’s Credit Card

An employee at a Johnston County fast food restaurant reportedly went on a spending spree with a customer’s credit card after they mistakenly left it at the business.

The victim, a 42 year-old Garner man, stopped at the KFC / Taco Bell at 12340 Highway 210, Benson (near I-40) on June 25th to eat.  He accidentally left his credit card behind.

An employee, 23 year-old Mia Ayree Perry of Eden Drive, Smithfield allegedly found the credit card. Instead of giving it to a manager or trying to return it to the customer, she allegedly used it to make numerous purchases.

Several days later, Selma Police were called to a motel for an unrelated incident and allegedly found the credit card in Perry’s possession.  By that time, she had made $1,044.55 in purchases.

On Aug. 12th, Perry was charged with financial card theft and attempting to obtain property by false pretenses.  Perry was given a $5,000 secured bond.
