Robbery Suspect Arrested During Undercover Drug Investigation

A Clayton teen wanted for the robbery of a juvenile was arrested Monday night during an undercover drug investigation near Clayton.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office had received numerous complaints about possible illegal drug activity at 1367 Guy Road.  Monday night, undercover agents had the home under surveillance when 17 year-old Jamal Direll Hicks Jr. of the same address arrived.  Hicks was wanted on an outstanding warrant for the alleged robbery of a 13 year-old on Jan. 20th at a home near Clayton.  During the robbery, deputies said Hicks stole the juveniles cell phone and money.

Hicks was arrested and charged with felony common law robbery and confined in the Johnston County Jail under an $80,000 bond.

A second person located at the Guy Road address, 17 year-old Erion Mondae Poston of Winston Road, Clayton was allegedly found to have 8 grams of marijuana and a handgun in his possession. Poston was charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver marijuana and possession of a handgun by a minor. Poston was held under a $50,000 bond.

Johnston County Schools confirmed Tuesday that Poston is a current student at Clayton High School. Hicks withdrew from Clayton High in 2017.
