Robbery Suspect Surrenders

A man wanted by law enforcement officers in Selma and Kenly surrendered this morning (Friday).

Richard Lavar Carter, 26, of Princeton was wanted by Kenly Police for an armed robbery on Monday at the Waffle House.

Carter was wanted by Selma Police for an armed robbery Tuesday around 4:00am at the New Dixie Mart at 433 Highway 70.

Carter turned himself in to police today. He was booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $1 million bond.

Selma Police Chief Billy Thomas said detectives are investigating whether additional suspects may be involved. Additional arrests have not been ruled out.

Smithfield Police are also investigating an armed robbery at 12:30AM Wednesday at the Speedway convenience store at 1016 N. Brightleaf Boulevard. A suspect armed with a handgun robbed the clerk. Police have not said if Carter may be a suspect in that holdup.
