A Johnston County Sheriff’s Office SAFE Team deputy arrested a 24 year-old man during a traffic stop Friday night in the Kenly city limits. The deputy was on patrol around 10:10pm and saw a vehicle without any headlights leave the parking lot of a convenience store on Highway 301.
The officer stopped the vehicle to question the driver why he wasn’t using his headlights. During the traffic stop the officer allegedly saw a used syringe, with what appeared to be blood inside of it, in the vicinity of a passenger.
The passenger was searched and approximately 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine and 1 gram of suspected marijuana was located and seized. Dylan Grant Whitley of Winding Creek Drive, Wilson was charged with felony methamphetamine possession and misdemeanor marijuana paraphernalia possession. Whitley was brought before a magistrate and given a $6,000 secured bond.
