A second person has been linked by sheriff’s deputies to a break-in reported last month in the Brogden area, east of Smithfield.
Just before 6:00am on Friday, Sept. 18th, a home on Eli Olive Road off Brogden Road was broken into. $400 in items including a communion tray, wine glasses and a Christmas collectible were stolen. Authorities recovered about half of the stolen property that same day when they arrested the first suspect, 38 year-old Benny Lee Bryson of La Grange.
On October 2nd, Johnston County deputies charged the second suspect, Timothy Louis Sutton, 38, of Eli Olive Road, Smithfield. Both men are charged with breaking and entering, larceny, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. Sutton was also charged with interfering with an electronic monitoring device.
Bryson was held on a $35,000 bond. Sutton was held on a $175,000 bond.
