A 22 year-old Selma man was arrested and his vehicle seized after he reportedly led law enforcement officers from two counties on a high speed chase. Shortly before 6:00am Sunday, a Johnston County deputy was stationary monitoring traffic at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 27 in Benson. The officer saw a 2002 Buick LeSabre travel past his location driving erratically and also left of center.
The deputy attempted to stop the Buick, but the driver turned suddenly to elude arrest. The driver traveled a short distance at approximately 45mph but failed to pull over. The vehicle then suddenly accelerated and reached speeds of 100mph through the Elevation community, into Harnett County, and the Angier city limits. Harnett County deputies and Angier Police joined the pursuit. It ended when the driver, 22 year-old Jose Guadalupe Pasillas of West Street, Selma turned onto a dead end road. He surrendered without further incident.
Pasillas was charged with a long list of traffic offenses including fleeing to elude arrest, failure to stop for a red light, driving on a revoked license, reckless driving to endanger, speeding, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail and held on a $50,000 secured bond.
His car was seized under the NC Run and You’re Done Law.
