An 18 year-old driver was arrested Tuesday after wrecking a car during a brief high speed chase on Interstate 95 in Johnston County. Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a passenger car reported stolen on I-95 northbound near Four Oaks but the driver failed to pull over.
Deputies pursued the vehicle approximately seven miles until the fleeing driver ran into the back of another northbound vehicle just before the Highway 70 Business Exit in Smithfield. Jikee Dimere Allen of Oriole Court, Selma was arrested without further incident.
Allen was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, possession of stolen property, failure to maintain lane control, reckless driving, speeding and driving without a license. Allen was held on a $70,000 bond.
No injuries were reported.
