A Smithfield man with a history of exposing his genitals in public places has been arrested again.

Smithfield Police said they were called to the Public Library at 305 E. Market Street at 10:13am on July 10th for a report of a man inside the library causing a disturbance. The man was asked to leave the library and moments afterwards police said he exposed himself and began masturbating.  Around 11:45am, the man was located on E. Lee Street and apprehended.

38 year-old Wesley Donterian Curry of East Street, Smithfield was charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct in a public building and trespassing.

Just weeks earlier, Curry was arrested May 26, 2019 for flashing a woman in the parking lot at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield. Curry was arrested a short time later in the area of the Pine Needle Plaza Shopping Center.  He was convicted on June 4, 2019 of misdemeanor indecent exposure. A judge sentence Curry to the 9 days he had served in the Johnston County Jail awaiting trial and he was allowed to go free.

In April 2017, Curry exposed himself to a 26 year-old woman inside Joe’s Laundrymat at 535 East Market Street.  He was arrested while still on the scene.  He pled guilty to the charge in October 2017.

Curry was released from the NC Department of Public Safety in January 2017 after serving 3 years in prison for being an habitual felon and for felony shoplifting.

Following his latest arrested on July 10th, Curry was confined in the Johnston County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond. At last report, Curry was still in custody.

CORRECTION: This story has been updated to reflect a correction by Smithfield Police indicating the suspect did not expose himself inside the library, but he did cause a disturbance in the library. The indecent exposure occurred moments after he left the library property.
