A man convicted of taking indecent liberties with a 15 year-old has been arrested once again.
Joseph Wayne Mashburn was convicted in 2012 for a 2011 incident in Chatham County involving a juvenile. He was released in 2013 after serving an 18 month prison sentence.
As part of his parole, Mashburn had to register as a sex offender and notify authorities of any address change.
On April 19th, Johnston County deputies went to Mashburn’s last registered address on West Watson Road near Benson. A person living at the home reportedly told officers that Mashburn had moved out several weeks ago.
A warrant was obtained for Mashburn’s arrest charging him with failing to report a new address as a sex offender. The charge is a felony.
On May 12th, a Johnston County deputy responded to a suspicious person call and located Mashburn in a wooded area on Langdon Road off Highway 50 North of Benson. Mashburn was arrested for the felony sex offender violation. He was also served with two 2018 misdemeanor warrants for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
