A Johnston County man on the NC Sex Offender Registry was arrested by the NC State Bureau of Investigation. Robert William Carpenter, 43, of Joyce Drive, Middlesex is charged with 12 counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Through an investigation, Carpenter was determined to be the suspect. According to arrest warrants, some of the images allegedly showed sexual activity involving nude children with an approximate age as young as 3. Other images allegedly involved children up to age 12.
Carpenter is a registered sex offender, due to previous sex acts with a child, which was investigated by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force in New Hampshire.
