Shoplifting Suspect Caught With Large Amount Of Cash, Over $3,300 Worth Of Drugs

A 33 year-old woman was reportedly caught with a large amount of cash and narcotics after Smithfield Police responded to a shoplifting call.  Officers were dispatched to Walmart around 7:30pm Sunday after a loss prevention employee allegedly saw the suspect attempt to steal underwear.

Police arrived and took Faith Nichole Parker of Grifton, NC into custody for shoplifting.  During a search, officers reportedly found $2,546 in cash, 33.2 grams of heroin and 6.1 grams of marijuana in her possession.  The narcotics had a potential street value of more than $3,300.

Parker was charged with two counts of trafficking opium or heroin and one count of possession of a controlled substance.  She was incarcerated in the Johnston County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

Police also conducted a routine background check on a man accompanying Ms. Parker, Michael Dean Giggey, 30, of Pine Level. Police determined Giggey was wanted for failing to appear in court on multiple warrants. He was jailed under a $507,000 bond.
