Shoplifting Suspects Face Felony Charges

williams-braswell-batts-mugsThree people were arrested Wednesday on felony charges after they allegedly shoplifted a large number of items from three Smithfield businesses.

Smithfield Police were called to Carolina Premium Outlets around 11:10am after an alert employee noticed the suspects allegedly shoplift items from their store then go into another business.

Officers arrived and located the three suspects in the Nike store.

Jaunay Marie Williams, 25,  Ashley Daniell Batts, 31, and Yolanda Nicole Braswell, 31, all from Rocky Mount were arrested on felony charges. Police said they recovered $1,066 in clothing and shoes that had been stolen from the Levi Outlet, Rack Room Shoes and Hot Topic. No items had been taken from the Nike store, according to Police Captain T.S. Choe.

Police also recovered two wire cutters allegedly used to remove anti-theft devices from some of the merchandise.

Williams was held under a $15,000 bond. Batts was given a $30,000 bond. Bail for Braswell was set at $31,000.
