SELMA – The State Highway Patrol says alcohol and speed were contributing factors in a head on collision on Highway 42 East near Lynch Road. The collision was reported at 8:59pm Saturday, Nov. 26.

The Highway Patrol said a blue Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound on Highway 42 when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound black Ford Explorer.

  1. It’s hard to agree on politics, how to handle area growth, solutions for crime, etc, but it’s not hard to agree that DOT MUST do something to fix this stretch of road NOW – not next year. DOT are you listening? We have put roundabouts at 2 other problematic intersections on 42 – why no action here? This should be priority #1 in for Division 4.

  2. @Richard…..It looks like this did not occur at an intersection, “The Highway Patrol said a blue Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound on Highway 42 when it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound black Ford Explorer.”

Please step down from your high-horse, we do NOT need anymore roundabouts or 4-way stops on 42. We DO need a lot less distracted and careless driving though!!!

  3. “alcohol and speed were contributing factors”

We already have proven ways to eliminate these factors: breathalyzer ignition locks & speed governors. Drunk driving and speed-induced crashes would be nearly eliminated, if all cars had these devices.

But we, as a society, have to decide if giving up our individual rights to have these tools mandated in all cars is worth it. If you’re a Socialist, I already know which way you lean!
