Smithfield Man Accused Of Concealed Meth In Groin Area

A Smithfield man was incarcerated Monday night under a $250,000 bond after allegedly being caught with marijuana in a car and methamphetamine after being booked into the Johnston County Jail.

Around 7:00pm,  a SAFE Team deputy stopped a car in the 4000 block of Highway 70 Business east of Smithfield.  A passenger in the car, Lajarvis Marquiz Jones of N. Seventh Street, was reportedly caught with a small amount of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia in his possession.

Jones denied having any other drugs in his possession, deputies said.

While being booked into jail, a small bag fell from Jones groin area. He allegedly claimed the bag contained counterfeit methamphetamines.  But the substance tested positive for suspected methamphetamines.   A total of 8 grams of meth was seized.

Jones was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession, marijuana paraphernalia possession, felony possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance in jail.
