A Smithfield man with prior convictions for indecent exposure has been charged with flashing a woman in the parking lot at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield.
Police said a hospital employee was leaving work around 8:10am Sunday when a man standing near her vehicle exposed himself to her then left walking northbound from the parking lot. The woman was not harmed. She immediately contacted hospital security and Smithfield Police.
Responding officers said they located the suspect in the area of the Pine Needle Plaza Shopping Center.
Wesley Dontarion Curry, 38, of East Street, Smithfield was charged with indecent exposure. Curry was released from custody on a $1,000 bond on the misdemeanor charge. He is scheduled to be in court July 25th to answer to the charge.
This is not Curry’s first indecent exposure arrest.
On April 26, 2017 Curry exposed himself to a 26 year-old woman inside Joe’s Laundrymat at 535 East Market Street. He was arrested while still on the scene. He pled guilty to the charge in October 2017.
On August 15, 2011, a Smithfield police officer was on patrol on West Street near Second Avenue when he saw Curry exposing himself beside the roadway. The officer stopped and arrested Curry who entered a guilty plea to the charge in October 2011.
Curry was released from the NC Department of Public Safety in January 2017 after serving 3 years in prison for being an habitual felon and for felony shoplifting.
