Smithfield Man Facing Obstruction Of Justice Charge

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Smithfield man following an investigation into a stolen gun report. On February 11, 2021, deputies said Travis D. Bannerman of Middle Landing Drive reported a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun had been stolen from his vehicle.

Detectives determined the firearm had been seized by a Georgia state trooper during a traffic stop prior to Bannerman filing the larceny report.
