Smithfield Man, Juvenile Accused Of Breaking Into Home, Stealing Car

A Smithfield man and a teen juvenile suspect are facing charges following two incidents less than a mile apart. Tony Lee Hines, 22, of the 700 block of Neuse Bend Road, Smithfield and a juvenile suspect are charged with the crimes.

The suspects are accused of breaking into a home June 27th stealing a shotgun, electronics, sword and two knives. A short distance away, on Brogden Road, the pair allegedly stole a 1994 Geo Tracker from a residence while the owner was away.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office recovered the stole vehicle and all the stolen property with the exception of the shotgun. Investigators are still working to recover the firearm.

Hines was charged with breaking and entering, larceny, larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. He was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $120,000 secured bond. The minor will face charges in juvenile court.
