Suspect Considered Armed And Dangerous

The search is underway for a Smithfield man wanted for the robbery of a Johnston County business.   Around 1:00am Saturday, Kenly Police said the suspect entered Kenly 95 Petro at 923 Johnston Parkway and ran behind the counter. The suspect, who displayed a gun, took cash then fled out the door.

Kenly Police Chief Josh Gibson said the robbery suspect has been identified as 39 year-old Donnell Jerome Alford (aka Donnell Sanders). Alford’s last known address was on Canterbury Road in Smithfield. He is described as a black male, 6 foot tall, 180 pounds and medium build.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest charging Alford with robbery with a dangerous weapon.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Kenly Police at 919-284-2116 or call 911.  Alford is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Alford has a lengthy criminal record. In October 2013 he was sentenced to 2 years in prison after being convicted of stealing cell phones from four people and shoes from a fifth victim.  In November 2012 he was charged with shoplifting brandy from the Selma ABC Store. And in November 2010 he was arrested after he stole a tip jar containing $14.68 from the Selma Waffle House.
