Speeding Driver Charged With DWI

An early morning traffic stop for a speeding violation resulted in the arrest of a Willow Spring man on impaired driving charges.

A Johnston County SAFE Team deputy was stationary running radar around 1:15AM Monday on Highway 42 just west of I-40 when he clocked a car traveling 64 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone.

The deputy pulled in behind the car and noticed it was being operated in a reckless manner. During the traffic stop, the deputy said he detected an odor of alcohol coming from the driver.

The driver, 26 year-old Roman Tentzohua Hernandez of Craven Lane, was arrested for driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger and speeding.

Hernandez registered 0.10 on the Breathalyzer.

He was given a $5,000 bond on the charges.
