SSS High Employee Thwarts School Break-In

kottcamp-jones-mugsAn employee at Smithfield Selma High School called 911 Wednesday morning after arriving to find a person inside the school building.

Smithfield Police responded to the school on Booker Dairy Road following the 5:36am call and discovered a break-in had just occurred. Officers began checking the area and located a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business across the street.

Two suspects were located and arrested.

Kendra J. Kottcamp, 37, of Sanford and Elton Gerald Jones, 32, of LaGrange are facing felony charges.

Kottcamp was charged with conspiracy to commit breaking and entering. Bail was set at $15,000.

Jones was charged with breaking and entering and possession of burglary tools. Bail was placed at $25,000.

Police said they recovered a pick axe, flat bar, black clothing and latex gloves from the scene.
