Stolen Car Belonging To Deceased Man Recovered

FOUR OAKS – A car stolen from a home near Four Oaks has been recovered and two arrests have been made. On December 7th around 11:00am, Johnston County deputies received a report a car had been stolen from a residence on Juniper Road.

When officers arrived they heard the sounds of a car engine revving in a nearby field. They located the stolen car with a tow strap hooked to a SUV. Deputies arrested two men at the scene.

One suspect reportedly claimed he had purchased the vehicle for $200 and later attempted to provide a falsified bill of sale. The truck was owned by a 79 year-old man who had passed away two years earlier. The administrator of his estate said he did not know either suspect and the truck had not been sold to anyone.           

Joey Randolph Williams Jr., 31, of the 700 block of Kenan Road, Four Oaks and Richard Lee Lovett, 33, of the 200 block of Allen’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks were charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. Williams was also charged with breaking and entering.  Both men were held in the Johnston County Jail on $30,000 secured bonds.

The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the administrator. The SUV was impounded.
