Stolen Gun Found During Traffic Stop

A traffic stop for an equipment violation resulted in the arrest of a Franklin County man on a felony stolen gun charge.

A Johnston County deputy sheriff was on patrol around 9:15pm Sunday when he stopped a Toyota passenger car in the 5800 block of Highway 231.

When the driver of the car opened the door the officer reportedly saw a 357 handgun inside the vehicle.  After running the serial number on the weapon the officer determined it had been reported stolen to Miami Florida Police.

Efren Jaramillo Carbajal, 28, of Thomas Arnold Road, Zebulon was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. Carbajal was booked into the Johnston County Jail in lieu of a $35,000 secured bond.
