FOUR OAKS – A Four Oaks man and woman were arrested Wednesday on felony charges. On June 15th, Johnston County sheriff’s detectives recovered a stolen utility trailer valued at $6,500 taken from a location in Cumberland County.
The stolen trailer was reportedly found in the possession of Garland Eugene Barnes Jr., 49, and Sheila Jean McLamb, 62, of the 400 block of Juniper Church Road.
During questioning, they reportedly claimed they purchased the trailer for $1,500 from an unknown seller without a title or bill of sale. They told authorities they could not remember the location they met the individual to purchase the trailer.
Barnes and McLamb were charged June 24th with felony possession of stolen property. They each received a $10,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
The utility trailer was returned to its owner in Fayetteville.
