Johnston County deputies have arrested a convenience store clerk for allegedly stealing a winning lottery ticket from a customer.
On Monday, a customer went to the Shell Gas Station at 11960 Highway 210, Benson (near Interstate 40) to claim 11 small winning NC Education Lottery tickets. Authorities allege the clerk processed 10 tickets but placed one ticket in her pocket. The alleged theft was captured on store security video.
The winning lottery ticket the clerk alleged stole was valued at $10.
Yolanda Johnson, 50, of E. Kennedy Circle, Benson was charged with a felony count of larceny by an employee. She was transported to the Johnston County Courthouse and after appearing before a magistrate was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
