Student Arrested After Bringing Knife To School

A 16 year-old is facing criminal charges after he allegedly brought a knife to his high school.

The incident was reported Friday morning at Cleveland High School on Polenta Road.

Officials have not said how they came to suspect a student, Jake Allen McCombs of Clayton, had a knife in his possession but during a search the weapon was reportedly found.

McCombs was charged by a school resource officer with possession of a weapon on educational property. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail then released into the custody of his mother pending a court appearance.

The knife was seized.
