A 16 year-old student at Cleveland High has been arrested after he reportedly seriously injured another 16 year-old student during a fight on school grounds. The incident happened Tuesday in a hallway at the school.
The 16 year-old victim was allegedly punched multiple times and tackled to the floor. Video of the altercation was captured on another student’s cell phone and later turned over to a school resource officer.
The victim sustained broken bones during the altercation and may have to undergo surgery, according to sheriff’s officials.
Timothy Lawrence Robbins, 16, of Cornwallis Road, Garner was arrested Wednesday by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury. He was released on bail pending a court appearance.
In an unrelated incident, two students both under age 16, were involved in a fight in a bathroom on the campus of West Johnston High School on Tuesday. No injuries were reported. Because both students are under age 16 they will be charged on juvenile petitions. Their names were not released because they are minors.
