A 51 year-old woman is facing multiple felony charges after her arrest Monday by Smithfield Police. Officer said they responded to eight businesses Monday on Outlet Center Drive after the clerks unknowingly accepted counterfeit $100 bills.
The suspect, Charrise Chance Foti of Fayetteville, reportedly went into the eight stores and presented a counterfeit $100 bill for a purchase, ranging from a $4 item to a $20 gift card. In return, Foti would receive $80 to $96 in cash from each store plus the item.
An employee at Buffalo Wild Wings contacted Smithfield Police who arrested Foti then retraced her steps to the 7 other businesses. They included Bath & Body Works, Bonworth, Pac Sun Outlet, New York & Company, Banana Republic, Clair’s and Carolina Pottery.
During her arrest, police said they found a small amount of cocaine in Foti’s possession.
Foti was arrested on a total of 20 felony offenses and placed in the Johnston County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
