BENSON – Johnston County deputies arrested a 37 year-old man in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle from a residential construction site. Debit cards in the stolen SUV were later used in Wayne County.
Michael Jay Warren, 37, of NC Highway 55 West, Mt. Olive was arrested October 15th by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office on seven criminal charges.
On October 11th, the owner of an Angier business reported a 2008 Ford SUV work vehicle parked at a construction site on Combine Trail had been stolen along with debit cards and tools valued at $2,500.
Later, someone attempted to use the stolen debit cards at Family Dollar and Walmart in Goldsboro but were not successful.
Warren was identified as a suspect and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny, two counts of possession of stolen property, and three counts of financial card theft. Warren was held on an $80,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
