Suspect Fled On Dirt Bike From Law Officer

A 27 year-old man reportedly tried to outrun a Johnston County deputy sheriff on a stolen Yamaha dirt bike.  The deputy was on routine patrol around 8:45pm Saturday on Turnipseed Road near the Wake County line when he spotted two dirt bikes riding in the roadway with the front wheels in the air.

The officer attempted to stop the two operators, who accelerated to speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour.  One operator got away. The second suspect was captured about two miles away.

Christopher McCullough, of Ingate Way, Raleigh was charged with fleeing to elude arrest, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, a license plate violation, and failure to burn a headlamp.  McCullough was jailed on a $60,000 bond.
