CLAYTON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect who allegedly forged and cashed a check that was stolen from a Clayton home. On Aug. 21st, the victim reported a check had been stolen from their home on Sandy Ridge Drive.
The check was later forged and cashed for $300 at a local bank. Deputies identified the suspect who cashed the check as 34 year-old Rusty Gilbert of the 1900 block of Bizzell Grove Church Road, Selma.
Gilbert was arrested on Aug. 28th and charged with felony uttering a forged instrument and felony obtaining property by false pretenses. He was held on a $30,000 secured bond at the Johnston County Jail.
