Suspect Identified After Dropping Cell Phone At Crime Scene, JCSO Says

FOUR OAKS – An 18 year-old suspect was arrested for allegedly breaking into a car and stealing items. Authorities said they were able to identify the suspect after he allegedly dropped his cell phone at the crime scene.

Around 7:30am Saturday, October 30th, a resident on Carpenter Drive near Four Oaks reported their car had been broken into and a vehicle title, Apple watch and personal identification documents had been stolen.

Johnston County deputies located a cell phone on the ground near the vehicle. Officers said they were able to link the cell phone to 18 year-old Enrique Velasco Vences of Blackmon Road, Four Oaks.

Vences was located at his home a short time later and after speaking with him and his parents he was arrested. Vences was charged with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny. The teen suspect was held on an $11,000 secured bond.

The cell phone was seized as evidence in the case.
